After a little break of almost two weeks, Premier League football returned on Friday with the game between Chelsea and Fulham. Several matches have been played on Saturday and Tomorrow it’s time for the final two matches of this Premier League weekend. One thing we can say for sure is that Manchester United is the big winner of this weekend. In this post we will explain why they are the big winners.
Chelsea spendings not the wanted effect
After the window closed, Chelsea fans were almost celebrating. With the signings of Mudryk, Madueke, Enzo Fernandez amongst others, they are convinced they won the transfer window. The first match after the window closed, spending all that money didn’t pay off. Chelsea wasn’t able to get the ball in the back of the net behind Bernd Leno and drew 0-0 with Fulham.
New manager bounce for Everton
Everton in 19th place, played at home against table leaders Arsenal. With the return of Sean Dyche as Premier League manager, Everton hoped new manager bounce could really mean something for them. And it did! Everton won the match against Arsenal with 1-0, letting the table leaders drop 3 points.
Narrow win for Man United
Manchester United took an early lead in the match, which was doubled by Rashford in the second half. They were cruising until Casemiro got sent off after a fight. A quick goal back for Palace after the red card made it a nervous final part of the match. Nevertheless they kept the lead till the end. With this victory Manchester United is the only big six team so far to win a match this weekend. After Newcastle drew later on the day, Man United is now in third place. Tomorrow the numbers 2 and 5 play against each other. Which means another competitor will drop points. These results are another step towards a top 4 finish and leaves the door a little bit open for a possible title challenge.
