Another false start for Arsenal in the Premier League

The Premier League is back! Not just back, but back how we as football fans like to see it. Brentford opened their first season in the English Premier League at home against Arsenal, with the support of their home fans. Arsenal was supporter by a fraction of their fans in the away end at Brentford Community Stadium. It was a real match with the atmosphere we’ve all been missing for so long. The fact that a club that makes their debut in the Premier League, played at home against a big club like Arsenal, made things even more special. We’ve seen Brentford fans with tears in their eyes at the end of the match. It’s most likely that some Arsenal fans also had tears in their eyes.

Arsenal not ready for the start

It’s become a common theme at the Emirates Stadium. Season after season, Arsenal looks unprepared for the start of a new season. This season hasn’t been any difference. Even with the fans back in the stadium, Arsenal fans haven’t been exciting for the season to start. This match against Brentford showed exactly why they haven’t been excited. Arsenal doesn’t look in a great shape to attack the top 4 this season. Goalkeeper Bernd Leno looked pretty dodgy at both goals. Arsenal had one of the best defensive records last season and added Ben White for a big fee to their defense. Nevertheless the team looked to be worse than last season.

Youngsters in the team

Mikel Arteta looked to have changed his opinion somewhat on the youngsters. Where he liked to fall back on his experienced players last season, he started with a lot of youngsters this time. The likes of Balogun, White, Sambi, Smith Rowe and Martinelli all started the match.

It's now interesting to see what will happen at Arsenal. If they manage to keep a cool head, they still can surprise everyone. Without the distraction of playing European football the youngsters should get the time to develop. There is a lot of potential in this team, but the pressure is on from the start! Which isn’t ideal with Chelsea and Man City up next. It’s very likely that Arsenal will be on 0 points after 3 matches, can they keep a level head at that moment?

    Bought 2 Club Wembley tickets less than 48 hours before the Championship Play Off Final. Good communication and tickets arrived the following day by email.
