Arsenal had a horrible restart of the Premier League. They lost against Manchester City, something that was expected. A few days later they gave away a 1-0 lead against Brighton and Hove Albion. A loss that possibly turns out to be a very important drop of points. Inexperienced manager Mikel Arteta decided to be ruthless after this devastating loss.
Arsenal on fire
Expectations were low after the loss against Brighton. All of a sudden, the teams start collecting points. The first match after Brighton was an away match against Southampton. Arsenal had a very poor away record in the last couple of seasons, but this time they won quite easily with 0-2 against Southampton. The home match against Norwich City became a walk-over with a 4-0 victory. Then it was time for the Gunners to face the Wolves. Wolverhampton who had 6 points lead over the Gunners, were feared in North London. Arsenal was very impressive against Wolverhampton and they won another away match with 0-2.
Mikel Arteta
The Spanish manager have shown ruthlessness after the loss against Brighton and Hove Albion. Matteo Guendouzi caused a brawl with the Brighton players. The French youngster kept telling his opponents that he earns more money than them. Neill Maupay was one of the players he kept annoying. Maupay got motivated by Guendouzi’s behaviour and scored the winning goal late in the match. Arteta doesn’t accept this behaviour and he decided to ban Guendouzi from the squad. The Frenchman haven’t been in the squad since the match against Brighton and he has been training on his own. This decision is a very important one to stamp Arteta’s authority. He shows he only wants to play with players who are willing to give their all for the club. If you don’t perform or behave in a professional matter, you won’t play for Arsenal. With matches against Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool to come, it’s going to be very interesting to see if Arsenal can continue their winning streak.
