The last round of qualifiers for the Euro 2020 has passed and now there are only two international breaks left until we know who will be competing in next summer’s tournament. England have strengthened their position in first place winning both of their games, first 4-0 against Bulgaria and then 5-3 against Kosovo.
After drawing their first two matches, Portugal ramped up the style beating Serbia and Lithuania easily, with Ronaldo netting four goals in the second match. Portugal seem to be secured as they face Luxemburg twice, Lithuania again and the only tough match being away to top spot Ukraine.
The Netherlands and Germany played out another classic which ended 2-4 for the Dutch. Whenever these two European powerhouses play against each other it is a game filled with goals and entertainment. Their group is quite tight with the Netherlands being in third only three-point behind Germany and Northern Ireland with a game in hand.
Ireland currently sit top of their group, however; they still have to face Denmark and Switzerland again who will be looking to take the top spot away from them.
Wales are fourth in their group and face an uphill battle to qualify for the tournament. If they can win both matches in the next round of fixtures it might give them a chance of qualifying.
Group G is quite a tight group with their only being 5 points separating the 5 teams, with Latvia not picking up any points so far. Anyone can still qualify from this group.
Turkey France and Iceland are all battling it out for the two spots in group I, with the world champions expecting to take top spot and Iceland or Turkey to take the other. Turkey are currently top because they beat France already, but they still have to go to Paris and play France away which will be a tough test.
Belgium and Russia look all but set to qualify as Russia is eight points ahead of Kazakhstan and Belgium are three points ahead of them. Scotland lost both of their matches this round and look set to miss out on qualifying.
The next round of matches will commence on the 10th of October.
